Unplugged

It's been a long break since my last post, for several reasons:

1) My last first semester had ended it was horrible it was just a little stressful. I went home, breathed a huge sigh of relief when my marks came in and spent well needed hours snuggling with Kyle watching Dance Moms and <insert manly show here>, we compromise. Our holiday break was also exceptionally busy, between driving back and forth from SK to AB, dividing time between my family and Kyle's that is where my time was spent: with family or in the car!
2) I needed to "unplug" for a little while, not simply in order to spend time with family but because something happened in our world that affected me deeply. You have all heard by now of the Newtown, Connecticut shooting that happened at Sandy Hook Elementary, taking the innocent lives of 20 children and 6 teachers.

I'm not an American, nor do I know anyone in Connecticut... but my heart grieved deeply for these babies who lost their lives; little people who were just becoming themselves, but already such a presence. Educators, who believed everyday that what they were doing would hopefully be a positive influence; cared and went beyond the expectations of educational standards. Heaven gained some angels that tragic day, but here, hearts were and will continue to ache. I'm not going to continue to write on this further, or what my thoughts on gun control and the school system are. That's not what this is about, it's about those 26 people who deserve to be remembered.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't be aware of what goes on, and I know for some people that's why they don't read the news, it's their way of "unplugging". I needed to become focused on all the love that surrounds me, the wonderful fiancé I have, my amazing family. Sweet, simple, wonderful things that I have to remind me of love, and that we serve a faithful God, despite our broken world.

So here is to all the angels of Connecticut, may your loved ones feel a little extra love today. You are missed.
