Party of five? two? seventeen?

Now I've never seen a bridal party of seventeen (that may be a bit exaggerated), though I have seen some fairly large ones at weddings I have attended. I think the largest I have witnessed was eight people. Kyle and I plan to have five; here is what has been going through my head lately.

This is a fantastic picture from my pinterest; originally from a photographer's site which you can find here! I hope our bridal party is brave enough to do this!
The dress that is in the running right now. I think it's an elegant dress and I hope to find something similar! I found this dress on a site called Trashy Diva (ironic) and you can find the link here!

1) So what if you have an uneven bridal party. I mean, if you have eight and your groom has one that may look a tad awkward; aside from the extreme, one or two people off kilter is not going to wreck the wedding. As hard are brides try to have the day absolutely perfect, something will go wrong. I don't want to be the crazy bride who is having a meltdown because I have 5 girls on my side, and Kyle has 1 or 2 more/less than that.

2) The most important thing is that you and your groom have people who "are standing there for you" as my best friend K put it. "You want people who encourage you, believe in your relationship and are standing as a testament to the commitment you are making" (Wise words K, this is why you are my maid of honor).

3) Family. It's important that family is included, because family is significant. This doesn't mean your entire bridal party has to be made up of siblings/or cousins you haven't seen in 3 years. Family members can be included in a variety of ways. whether: ushers, junior bridesmaids, attendants, candle lighters, flower girl/ring bearer... the list goes on and on. What is important to us is that the "little people" who are special to us will each have a special part in our day; we hope to make it as fun as possible.

I am dying to put the gifts we have chosen for our bridal party on here- it is such a swanky idea. I'm afraid one of them will see however; so I'll refrain.

Anyhow, it's pretty late but I had to get my thoughts out- I know it's been awhile since I wrote; I apologize!

PS: It is currently reading week, as such I spend much time procrastinating. A great way to do so on facebook; usually the games are a colossal waste of time. I did however discover a great game which actually has good to it. Check out WeTopia here; the more you play the game the more you earn points towards actual donations. (This includes reading programs, winter clothes for kids, camp programs, clean water). It's fascinating, and although you may be thinking "I don't know how much of a difference it makes"- so what, it is making A DIFFERENCE; and it's a pretty fun game. So, play for good.
