I can't believe it's been since January when I last posted, what a slacker I am. We have so many new things going on that I don't even know where to being sharing...
1) We celebrated ONE year of marriage. What an awesome year it has been. It honestly flew by faster than I ever could have imagined. I woke up and thought, "how different is my life today than just a short year ago". One year ago I had just come through one of the most difficult years of school that I had ever had, and yet had been rewarded more than ever at graduation and by getting to marry my best friend. One year ago, I was saying goodbye to a community that I had lived in for the past four years, a community that truly shaped who I am today. And finally, one year ago I was moving provinces... leaving the open beautiful skies of Saskatchewan to come to the (still open) slightly hillier (and mountainous depending how West you go) plains of Alberta. It has been a HUGE transition, and yet I believe that I have adapted quite well (considering) over the past year. There have been trials of course, and some teary filled nights... but Kyle is the most steadfast, supportive, loving man I know and has been more than wonderful through it all.
2) WE GOT A DOG. Oh my lanta. This is one of the most exciting things that has happened. Of course we brought her home on our anniversary (from the AB Humane Society). Her name is Onyx, she is one year old (aprox) and a border collie mixed with American Staffordshire Terrier. She is just the cutest thing, and Kyle and I are completely and totally in love with her. We are going to be starting obedience training with her in June, and then I have planned to do agility classes with her after that.
3) Kyle and I BOTH started new jobs. He of course finished up his third year of Civil Engineering, and has been blessed with an awesome opportunity with a well established construction company. I unexpectedly changed career paths and accepted a position with a Financial Consulting company. The only downside of these is that Kyles job is based out of town, he is out and in throughout the summer. Honestly, I don't think it will be as bad as I originally expected, because we've done long distance for two plus years, and the times that he will be away will be a much shorter duration. I'm also in a busy routine with work and taking care of Onyx. I love, love, LOVE my new job. I have room to grow, awesome co-workers, so much closer to home. It is honestly the perfect place for me to be.
Well those are the biggest changes happening right now. I'm looking forward to summer (it snowed yesterday, are you KIDDING ME). We have a few weddings to celebrate, and hopefully camping sometime (not sure how poor Onyx will adjust to that). Hopefully I'll be posting sooner rather than later, and I'll try to get some pictures up of our sweet girl.
