patience, patience.

Kyle and I got engaged September 24th, 2011; we are getting married May 4, 2013. This means our engagement has had several reactions of, "my goodness what a long engagement you two have". I know how to count, I realize that we are engaged for aprox. 1 year/7 months; or as I like to say, "a month longer than 1 year and a half".

I don't think it's that big of a deal, I personally wouldn't want anything more than 2 years, and even with our "long engagement" we are under that. I love that we can focus on school, and have the flexibility of the summer to wedding plan. I love that the average Canadian engagement length is 18.5 months; it's really nice not to be crazy stressed out for that pre-wedding time. I love that we have the extra time to work on communication, and eventually dig deep into pre-marital counselling.

As I posted earlier, Kyle and I have been working on our guest list, we are at around 250 right now (although this is pre-cutting people! Eek that sounds so bad). But it's nice to be able to work on it casually. Here are some of the things we are looking forward to!

March/April: (12 months from wedding) Booking a venue! We have a church that we are in love with, although we have to negotiate with them whether we can bring in our own Pastor's instead of using their minister.
May-August: (9-11 months from wedding) Looking into ordering my wedding dress, making some serious decisions on bridesmaid dresses, making food choices and getting our budget to work with this! (We haven't made a specific budget yet, so this summer will be interesting).
December- (5 months from wedding) Christmas time we plan to go looking around at houses we would be interested in. Kyle may move in a month/couple months before the wedding to get settled in.

I sometimes forget in all this madness that I am to be content, where I am right now in this moment. I know that there are plans for me and these plans are good. I know that Kyle and I get to build our lives together, it's hard right now though. It's hard with a long distance relationship, and it's hard when I am impatient and fighting a head cold (makes me even more impatient).

Love,
Heidi
